Dear 4th Grade families!
As teachers, our role is to teach your student. We LOVE that role!
We want our classrooms to be a place of learning, and we strive to make sure all students in our classrooms have an opportunity to learn. In order to create a classroom environment conducive to learning, it is imperative that our classroom management program is in place and supported by parents at home.
Our Nighthawk Pledge
As a member of the Nighthawk Family I will be:
Trustworthy
Respectful
Responsible
Fair
Caring
And an Outstanding Citizen
We are Terrific!!
Every time a classroom rule is broken, a consequence is given.
Our classroom consequences are as follows:
1. Redirect (a verbal warning)
2. Second Redirect (Warning with a break in a specific area in classroom)
3. Contacting Parents/Guardians (This may be through an email or a redirect form that needs to be signed and sent back)
4. Major/ Minor Referral will be sent into the office.
The first thing we want you to know is that a redirect is not a bad thing. All students will have moments that we forget . For example, if your student is talking when a teacher is teaching, a warning is given. We have found that by doing this, the behavior starts to change immediately because they know we will be consistent the first time and every time. In order to build and maintain trust with all students, we will be as consistent as possible. We also want you to know that behavior is learned, and can be changed. Children’s brains are so moldable. We expect all students to adhere to our Nighthawk pledge and rise to meet our classroom expectations. It is imperative that these characteristics are maintained so we can preserve positive classroom environments and give all students access to learning. If you have any questions or would like more details, we are happy to send you our student presentation, that has been used to teach students, or answer any questions you may have.
We are so excited to teach your student this year! It’s going to be wonderful!
Sincerely,
The 4th Grade Team
