I am so looking forward to a fun, learning-filled year with your students! This will be my fourteenth year at New Vision, and I am truly excited to be in the role of fifth grade teacher again.
I have loved teaching fifth grade these last few years, and third grade before that. I have also spent some time teaching art. My first career was in art and graphic design, but I discovered my love of teaching when my own children entered school. I am a University of Texas Longhorn, and graduated with a BS in Advertising. I also have my Masters in Educational Psychology for Teachers from the University of Northern Colorado. I have two kids, Nick and Andi, who are technically adults this year, as well as two stepkids, Emily and Wyatt. When I'm not planning lessons, you can usually find me reading, petting our dogs, hiking and camping, hanging out with my family, or trying new restaurants with my friends and husband, Brad. I also love to travel, take photos, write, craft, and read. Did I mention I like to read? : )
Once again, I’m so excited and honored to be part of your student’s school life this year! Thank you for choosing NVCS and for all you do to help make it a great school community.

Hello, my name is Liza Olander and I am so excited to be a part of the 5th grade team here at New Vision! Teaching is my calling and it is something that I truly love doing and talking about it. If you want to see me geek out, just ask me a question about education!
I have taught second grade for one year, first grade for six years, and this is my fourth year of 5th grade. I am about to start my 11th year of teaching. I graduated from Western Colorado University with my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, and completed my Masters in Creative Writing from my alma mater.
I have two nieces who are absolutely amazing and have managed to wrap me around their little fingers! I am blessed with an amazing supportive family that always helps me decorate my classroom in the summer time. I also have a corgi named Olive who loves to wake me up early every morning and go on long walks.
I am so excited to meet my new class and start a fantastic year of learning!
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!
