Meet the Teachers
Mrs. Shelly Carman
(Formerly Ms. Moore)
I am so looking forward to a fun, learning-filled year with your students! This will be my ninth year at New Vision, and I am truly excited to be in the role of fifth grade teacher again.
I have loved teaching fifth grade these last few years, and third grade before that. I have also spent some time teaching art. My first career was in art and graphic design, but I discovered my love of teaching when my own children entered school. I am a University of Texas Longhorn, and graduated with a BS in Advertising. I have two kids, Nick and Andi, who will be in 12th and 11th grade this year, as well as two stepkids, Emily and Wyatt (7th and 6th grade). When I'm not planning lessons, you can usually find me reading, petting our dogs, drawing or painting, hanging out with my family, or trying new restaurants with my friends and husband, Brad. I also love to travel, take photos, write, craft, and read. Did I mention I like to read? : )
Communication is very important to me, and I will strive to keep you aware of what is happening here at school. Please feel free to contact me any time you have concerns or questions.

Once again, I’m so excited and honored to be part of your student’s school life this year! Thank you for choosing NVCS and for all you do to help make it a great school community.
Mrs. Colleen Nelson
I am so excited to be teaching my SEVENTH year at New Vision Charter School! I spent the first 6 years as a second grade teacher. I already know some of your sweeties! I have a BS in Communications and a Masters in Education in Elementary Education from Regis University in Denver. I am originally an Army Brat and have lived all over the world, but call Georgia my home. After getting married to my hockey playing husband, Riley, I moved to Windsor in 2006. We have two kiddos (Henry -7 and Fletcher-almost 2) and a crazy golden retriever!
In our spare time (is that a thing?) you will find us at the hockey rink, golf course, or hanging with the family. We have a hectic life, but isn't that always the case? You can reach me easiest by email, but I also have class dojo. I will check messages and get back to you as soon as I can. This year is going to be terrific!!!!

Mrs. Sarah Holt
I am thrilled to be at New Vision this year! Last year I completed a teaching program while co-teaching in a fifth-grade classroom at Louisville Elementary. I fell in love with teaching and found fifth grade to be a dynamic and exciting time for lots of growth and learning.
In my previous life I was a psychotherapist in private practice. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling, and I am currently working on, and three classes away from, a Master’s Degree in Education and Human Development. I am an empty nester with two children, Alexander and Kirsten, both in college. My passions are reading, sewing, and spending time with my family and dogs. I also enjoy board games, spending time in the mountains, and traveling.
I will make sure to reach out frequently with updates on all of our fun and learning. We're going to have a blast this year! Please reach out to me if you have any concerns or questions!
