About Señora BC

I was born and raised in Western Massachusetts. When I was 15, my family and I moved to Sharon, Connecticut.  Through my participation in the club AFS (American Field Service),   I was able to travel abroad to Costa Rica for the summer of my sophomore year in High School.   There I realized the value of being able to speak a second language and I was humbled by (despite years of studying Spanish) my limited ability to communicate in the language.

Fast forward 15 years.  I found that I was finally able to effectively communicate in Spanish with ease.  I decided to get my M.A. in Teaching and to teach the language.  I have been teaching since 2016 and I have experience at both the High School and Middle School level.  What I tell all of my students is that they have to be willing to make mistakes in order to learn Spanish.  I am still making mistakes 20+ years after I started to learn the language.

I live in New Milford with my two kids and my husband, Carlos.  Both of my children are bilingual in Spanish and English.  During the summer we go to Mexico to visit my husband's family.

I love Mexican food and I love to cook.  During my time in México, I spend my time learning as many new recipes from my mother-in-law as possible.
