The Afternoon Program (TAP) provides a supportive, alternative high school experience at Newtown High School. It's designed for students who, after at least one year of high school, find that a traditional setting isn't the best fit for their success. In collaboration with their parents and high school staff, these students choose TAP for its smaller environment, reduced class sizes, and condensed school day – features that often prove to be the key to their academic progress.
TAP serves students with diverse learning profiles, backgrounds, and goals. Though each learner is unique, they all share a strong desire to learn and the potential to excel. Our certified teachers deliver a curriculum that mirrors Newtown High School's standards, ensuring TAP students earn a Newtown High School diploma by meeting the same credit requirements. After graduation, TAP alumni confidently pursue various paths, including full-time employment, military service, technical school, community college, and four-year colleges.
