Meet Our Staff
Christine Ahmad, Editor-in-Chief
My name is Christine Ahmad and I am a senior and the Brave Bulletins Editor-in-Chief. I joined Journalism to increase my knowledge in writing and to learn how to write more than fictional stories. I am writing for the school paper to help share the news about the community at Newton. I prefer to write fictional stories, but writing more for the paper, I've come to like writing articles as well. I look forward to learning more about Newton than I already know and open my mind to new clubs and events happening. When I am not writing I enjoy hanging out with friends and watching movies.
Logan Daingerfield, Managing Editor
My name is Logan Daingerfield, and I am a junior. I have had a passion for writing for my entire life. I hope to have a career in writing after college, and I hope to gain experience through The Brave Bulletin. I enjoy writing feature articles the most, and I also enjoy writing news articles. The Brave Bulletin has already had a lot of student interaction, and I look forward to more staff and students interacting with the paper. When not writing for the paper, I like creative writing. I also play guitar, and I am the lighting tech for the theater productions at Newton High School.
Aisling Gill, Staff Reporter
My name is Aisling Gill, and I’m a staff reporter for The Brave Bulletin. I joined Journalism out of an interest in learning about the industry and polishing my nonfiction writing skills, but I now see my contributions to The Brave Bulletin as a way to connect with the Newton High School community through one of my biggest passions. I’m looking forward to a successful publication that highlights the diversity in interests and opinions that makes NHS special. When I’m not in the newsroom, I love to play music and write with a more creative spin.
Allison Iliff, Staff Reporter
My name is Allison Iliff, and I am a senior. I joined Journalism to gain experience in writing. I have always had a passion for writing, and journalism gives me an incredible opportunity to do that. I love writing editorials. Being able to give my own opinion in a piece of writing encourages me to write to the best of my ability. I look forward to hearing the reactions from the staff and students when we release the publication. When I am not writing, I am likely reading. In the past year I have read over 25 books, and reading is my favorite pastime.
Kaylee Mangual, Staff Reporter
My name is Kaylee Mangual, I am a junior and this is my first year taking a class like journalism. I started writing the paper due to the fact that it was good for what I wanted to do in college. Being in the class taught me how it truly is important for the school and it made me want to write it deeper than before I came into this class. Writing and informing the school of what is going on in our environment is so needed as a school community. I like to write about news, because it informs people what is going on, and it gives the readers knowledge. When it comes time for publication, I look forward to seeing all of my other peers’ work. I am proud of everyone and of myself for making all the articles to make the school have a newspaper. When I am not writing I love to have a good time with my friends, I love spending time with friends and being accompanied by the ones I love.
Karlee Reid, Staff Reporter
Hi, I'm Karlee Reid and I am a sophomore at Newton High School. I am on the Lady Braves field hockey team. I have two supportive parents that support me in everything I set my goals on. I chose to join Journalism because I thought I would try something new. I like to write about current events, interview new people and tell stories through my articles of what is new in today's current events.
By writing for the school paper it helps me write and tell someone else's story the way they want it told. It keeps my writing skills up. It also makes me feel that the person(s) reading the story can feel they are part of the article, like if you were reading a good book. I enjoy writing sports articles. It's amazing to hear a coach talk about his or her players and the team or listen to players tell their story on a big win their team had. I also like writing about current events in my community. This would include food drives, charity events and holiday festivities.
I look forward to writing about the upcoming winter sports. I like to spend time hunting deer and birds with my step dad and uncle David. I love to watch my dogs work a field when they hunt. I like to work out in the gym for my current sports field hockey and wrestling. All these things help me be the best student and athlete I can be.
Shannon Rittie, Staff Reporter
My name is Shannon Rittie and I am a senior in Newton High School. I chose Journalism because I enjoy writing and wanted to use this year to broaden my writing experiences. I enjoy writing news articles. I'm excited to be able to spread our passion of writing both within and outside of the classroom. When I am not writing, I am a ballet dancer.
Loretta Samples, Staff Reporter
I am Loretta Samples and I’m a freshman. I recently decided to join Journalism because I found that it is something that I really enjoy and that is also why I am writing for the school newspaper. I think it is important that clubs, events, classes, teachers, and more parts of the school get recognized for what they do because I know the school's staff love their job and would be delighted if more people took interest in their subject or any clubs and activities that they create. So, I hope with this next edition that students will discover something that they would like to take part in. I would also like to say that I love writing for the paper very much; it doesn’t matter what topic it is on. And, it has made me feel more interested in school than ever before. Outside of writing, I enjoy taking pictures mostly of nature or my cat. Another thing I like doing is reading books and Weird New Jersey magazines, as well as watching documentaries or horror movies!
Jordan Short, Photography Editor
My name is Jordan Short and I’m a junior. I joined Journalism because I love writing and bringing stories to life. I am writing for the paper because I think it will be a great experience for me and help me in future careers. I love writing sports articles and adding the photos I take to the newspaper. I’m looking forward to making a better connection with the staff of the paper and reaching out to the school more. When I’m not writing I love to read and take photos. You will most likely find me with either a book or my camera in my hands.
Madison Trimmer, Assistant Editor-in-Chief
I'm Madison Trimmer, and I joined Journalism because it is a topic that interests me a lot. I also noticed in my time here that we never had a paper distributed or heard any kind of semblance of a newspaper being around. I’m writing for The Brave Bulletin because I wanted to be a part of something more at the school while using one of the skills I enjoy. Personally, I prefer creative writing over anything else; however, I do enjoy writing sports and news articles quite a lot. For the publication, I’m just really excited for everyone to read the articles everyone has written and put work into; people also get the chance to see if they’ve had articles written about them in sports or other topics, which is pretty cool. When I’m not writing, I enjoy golfing, cooking/baking, hiking, gardening, and visiting museums.
