The Interact Club is a community service organization sponsored by the Newton Rotary club. It is an international organization with clubs throughout the world. The club is required to do at least one local and one international community service project each year. The NHS Interact Club works closely with the Newton Rotary and provides volunteers to help at their functions, as servers at the annual Pancake Breakfast and Garden Party, parking attendants, and workers at the Rotary booth at the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show. Interact has hosted speakers from Rotary at club meetings.
Fundraisers are planned to donate money to various local and international organizations. For several years now there has been a Pickleball Tournament in November to raise funds for a charitable cause. Last year’s money went to the Heifer Foundation which provides animals to families in third world countries to help them become self-sufficient; we raised enough money for two goats. Interact also sponsored Data Match as a fundraiser and the money was donated to the entry fee for the Gift of Life Volleyball Tournament, sponsored by Rotary.
Interact has also become very involved with Project Self-Sufficiency, which is a program designed to help unemployed or underemployed women. Students assisted at Holiday Parties for the clients’ children. This past year we also assisted D.A.S.I. by sponsoring a food drive.
The Newton Rotary Club is very supportive of the high school students and very appreciative of the services we provide.
