What is Silicosis?
Silicosis is a lung disease caused by the long term (20 years) inhalation of Silica that gets deposited into the lungs. Silica is most frequently seen in mine workers, stone cutters, and other jobs that involve grinding, blasting, polishing, and buffing. Silicosis can cause lung cancer, pulmonary TB, and silicosis.

Coughing
Reduced lung volume
Predisposition to to tuberculosis, emphysema, and pneumonia
There is no cure for silicosis. It can only be treated through prevention through wearing masks, taking x-rays of the lungs of at-risk workers, and proper workplace ventilation.
