Section Override Roles & Advisor Roles
From student survey and focus groups this past spring, and having talked to teachers who are avid users of Schoology, we have compiled a list of best practices for to you to review.
Read through the list below. Add your own thoughts about best practices for an online course and remote learning in the discussion area.
Share ideas, successes, or ask for advice from others! You can even practice different ways to add a discussion post (text, audio/video, upload images).
Just as you would thoroughly explain all your expectations and routine for your physical classroom, take time at the beginning of school to walk your students through the layout of your digital classroom.
Storing all your weekly templates in one folder in Schoology instead of posting to Updates.
Students found it helpful to have the template posted in Updates but found it hard to find if a teacher posted more than one update each week.
Start the beginning of the year by posting all your materials in your Schoology course. Make as much of your in-class course available online so that students have an easier transition if we move to distance learning.
Students like Schoology messaging and find it to be an easy way to communicate with teachers.
Use folders! It helps students stay organized
Many students really liked it when teachers organized their distance learning assignments by week (in folders).
Use due dates on assignments so that students get overdue assignment alerts.
Use the build in audio and video features to make your course more personal
