Possible Extension Activity Ideas
Learn about a new concept in math that you are interested in that we will not cover (or have not yet covered) in school and then teach that concept to someone else.
Do an author study by reading 3-5 books by one author (can also be a picture book author) and look for common themes across the books.
Research an event from history.
Pick a celestial body (a planet, a constellation, etc.) and learn everything you can about that one thing.
Pick a cool looking science experiment and try it out (with parental permission). Develop a hypothesis, take data and record your observations using words/numbers and pictures, and write up a conclusion about your findings. OR Come up with your own question and hypothesis, design an experiment to test your hypothesis, take data and record your observations using words/numbers and pictures, and write up a conclusion about your findings.
Write a letter or e-mail to a favorite author.
Log into ST Math.
Research all aspects of a different country/region/culture. Focus on the environment, food, clothing, resources, traditions, and transportation.
Memorize and recite a poem.
Learn some words in a language different from that of your first language.
Practice your keyboarding skills at typing.com (sign in using Google and your Newton information).
Learn all of the countries on a particular continent and be able to label them.
Ask for additional vocabulary words to study, in addition to the required list.
Do the optional side of the math homework.
