Alphabet Flash Cards
Practice saying the names of the letters.
Practice saying the letters’ primary sounds.
Put the letters in ABC order.
Lay the cards out in alphabetical order. One person says a sound, the other points to the letter.
One person says a word, the other person points to the word’s first letter.
Match the upper case and lower case letters.
Think of a word that starts with the letter.

Point to a letter/picture and say the letter-picture-sound. (For example, “T – top - /t/”.)
Word Wall Word Flash Cards
It might be helpful to preview some of the words. If it feels too hard, put away the words we haven’t learned yet.
One person says a word, the other finds the card.
Copy the words. Copy them on a white board.
Play Memory with the cards. Be sure to read the words as you turn them over.
Find some word wall words on signs or in books.
Sort the words by number of letters, and then read them.
Pick a work, write a sentence using that word.
Pick two words, think of a sentence using both of the words.
