Asbestosis is a chronic lung disease caused by inhaling asbestos fibers. Prolonged exposure can cause scarring of the lungs and shortness of breath. It doesn't appear until years after initial exposure
Mesothelioma is a cancer that starts out as a growth of cells in the mesothelium. The only known cause of mesothelioma is asbestos exposure.
