SNEAKER REMINDER

As Physical Educators, we want your child to reach their goals, learn and have fun in a safe environment. In order to ensure that your child obtains maximum benefit and participation in their Physical Education, Health and Wellness classes, we need to reinforce that all students wear sneakers for every PEHW class throughout the year. We also need to maintain the quality of the gym floor. Boots, shoes, sandals, Crocs and other footwear are unsafe for your child to wear in this physical environment and may also damage the floor surface.

Your child will be required to wear sneakers in order to participate in Physical Education, Health and Wellness classes. If they do not to wear them to class, they will not be permitted to participate in the activity that day. If the activity is such that we feel they may be safely involved, we will let them join in. If unsafe footwear is consistently worn on PEHW days, we will send a reminder home with your child. If your child usually wears shoes or boots to school, please send their sneakers along with them in their backpacks.

SAFE SNEAKER CRITERIA:

  • •regular heels and soles only - no "high-heeled" or "platform" sneakers

  • •the laces and/or velcro should fasten sneakers securely to the foot (sneakers will not fly off feet while child is moving)

  • •soles are intact - no holes or rips

  • •"hiking boots" do not qualify as sneakers - hooks damage equipment, floor and students

  • •sneakers should adequately fit your child's feet

Thank you for your understanding and support!
