The enrollment process begins with the Home Language Survey, which is completed by parents. Next, the students' English language proficiency level is assessed using the K W-APT/WIDA Screener assessment tool. The assessment is designed to help teachers make decisions about students who need English language support services.
ACCESS
During the month of January, all ELL students (including opt-outs) are required to participate in ACCESS testing to assess their English language proficiency in listening, reading, speaking, and writing. ACCESS provides a baseline to measure progress in the four domains of English language acquisition.
Progress Reports
Parents receive ELL progress reports and classroom progress reports in February and June. Parents need to log into Aspen, the student information system, to view progress reports. To learn more about Aspen, the family/student portal, please click here.
