Sulfuric Acid was first called oil of vitriol which was discovered by an Islamic alchemist, astronomer, and physicist Jabir ibn Hayyan. He discovered this chemical during the eighth century. It was very popular around Europe and Asia to alchemists from the eighth century to the sixteenth century.
Sulfuric Acid was first mass produced by an English pharmacist named Joshua Ward. They were made in glass containers until 15 years later when an English inventor John Roebuck used a lead chamber process that was more effective and efficient. Many manufactured products, including fertilizers, gasoline, detergents, paints, explosives, pesticides, and batteries, require on sulfuric acid for their production.
