The Danger of a Single Story

Angier staff have watched and discussed Chimamanda Adichie's Danger of a Single Story. In this thought-provoking TED Talk, Adichie encourages us to reflect on the simplistic and sometimes false understandings we form about individuals or groups based on assumptions and "single stories" we have heard about them and/or their countries.

  • Has a single story ever been told about you? How did you know? How did it make you feel?

  • Have you ever told a single story? What did you do? How did you come to realize it was a single story?

Culturally Responsive Instruction (CRI)

During 2022-23, the entire Angier staff is learning how to deepen our culturally responsive instruction and pedagogy to meet the needs of all students. We are reflecting upon:

“All instruction is culturally responsive.

The question is always, to whose cultures? ”
