Our Project
We layered our graphs to find trends and this is what we found...
Words to know:
Barometric pressure (also referred to as atmospheric pressure)- is the pressure in the air and above the ocean. It can have different temperatures and densities.
Nor'Easters- Read about it on the 'Home' tab
Here is a step-by-step guide on what happens to cause a Nor'Easter!
Hot air comes in from the Northeast
We know hot air is lighter than cooler air and this makes the atmospheric pressure decrease in a downward push
Pressure rises higher into the air due to this and will not have as much power leaving less space over the oceans.
The air starts rushing in to fill the empty space and this creates wind
The longer the wind blows at a strong speed the higher the waves will get!
In summary...
Pressure moves which can allow wind to come in and take its place. Then the wind will create high waves!
