Title of collection: Harbingers of Hope
Grade/team: 6th, Coral
I submitted five pictures of four different people and one where all of them are together. It is called, "Harbingers of Hope" because superheroes send a sensation of hope to people when they hear about them or see them. I drew superheroes because in Covid-19, we need a little bit of hope in our lives as well. I also drew a doctor, showing that there are real life superheroes in our lifetimes, not just people in T.V. shows, movies, books or comics strips.

Title of collection: Pandemic Reflections & Expressions
Grade/team: 6th, 7th, and 8th
This selection of 6th, 7th and 8th grade artwork reflects a thoughtful examination and reflection of the human experience during this global pandemic. The Art + Advocacy pieces shared here reveals a commitment to social justice and environmental advocacy which has been at the forefront of this era in humanity. The Viewpoint pieces share students personal, current views and the views that they dream of seeing one day in the future. In such a challenging and isolating time, our artists have shed light, hope, possibility and advocacy through their imagery.
I am continuously amazed by the creativity, energy and passion we see in our art community at Brown Middle School. In each art piece students have embraced creative problem solving techniques, self-expression and deep reflection. The exhibiting student artists have made connections to their personal lives, our community, humanity and the world of art. Through the arts we can form connections and support one another which is needed now more than ever!
