The Bigelow Academic Center (BAC) will open in mid September!
BAC will meet in the Library.
The hours for the BAC are 2:30 - 4:00.
The Newton (4:00 PM) and Boston (4:15 PM) late buses are available to students who attend the BAC.
Rules:
All students attending the BAC must report to the cafeteria after school, where they can have a snack brought from home. NO SNACKS AT THE BAC.
The BAC is a quiet, supervised study area. It is a place to do your homework. Staff members are there if you need help with an assignment.
Homework is the priority at the BAC. Students should not attend if they do not have any work to do.
If students finish all their work, they may read silently, or choose another silent, independent activity.
Computers are to be used for school projects and assignments only. Misuse of computers will result in loss of privileges. The consequences are the same as during the school day.
Cell phones are not allowed in the BAC. The consequences are the same as during the school day.
Students must sign out to use the bathroom or go to another location with permission from BAC teachers.
Students are allowed to be dismissed from BAC when they have a ride waiting for them, or if they walk home. Students must leave school grounds once they are dismissed - no "hanging out" in or around the building.
Behavioral Expectations and Consequences:
Bigelow’s Core Values are expected to be observed each day in the BAC. RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and LOVE of LEARNING must be demonstrated. If your behavior is disruptive and not conducive to a quiet learning environment, you will receive a warning from a BAC supervisor. If the behavior continues, the Athletics and Activities manager will contact parents/guardians. If the behavior continues, the issue will be addressed with Leadership.
