Preparing to attend the SIS program at Parsons is a multi-step process, as it is a three-week intensive program that awards three college credits.
Application
Apply for the program from this website:
Pre-College (click on APPLY NOW button)
College/Adult (click on APPLY NOW button)
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. You should expect a decision sent to their preferred email address within 5-7 business days with a link to a course listing to move forward with registration if accepted.
Registration
Once your application is accepted, you will need to register for a course and make the payment. You will then receive a payment confirmation via email.
After you are registered, you will receive an email titled "Welcome (First Name)(Last Name)" from summer@newschool.edu with a Confirmation Letter attached as a PDF.
Program Requisite Form
Once you receive your “Welcome” email, you will be required to fill out and submit the Requisite Form. This is required for all students attending a SIS program. This should be completed no later than ONE MONTH before the start of your SIS session.
Click on the Program Requisite Form link on the Welcome Email / Confirmation Letter and go through the questions to submit (this takes about 20 min). In this form you will begin the process of the following items:
Activate Your New School Account
By resetting your password for your NetID, you will be able to log into the systems you will need as a New School student. Steps are also listed below.
Student Visa (for students who are not US citizens or permanent residents)
Apply for your I-20 form by logging into iGlobal using your New School credentials.
Contact your local US embassy/consulate to set up an appointment to apply for a student visa. Gather the required documents, including the I-20 form issued by The New School. The Acceptance Letter will serve as an Invitation Letter.
Note: Start applying as soon as possible, as obtaining the student visa may take time. More information can be found in the FAQ sheet (review "International Student" section).
English Language Proficiency Test Score or Transcript (for students for whom English is not the primary language of instruction at their home institution)
Submit a TOEFL score of 92 or higher on the Internet-based course, an IELTS score of 7 or higher, a PTE score of 63 or higher, a DET score of 115 or higher, or a Cambridge English score of 185 or higher in C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency in the Requisite form. If you do not yet have a test score, you can submit at a later date to summer@newschool.edu. Visit TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, DET, or Cambridge English for more information.
If you currently attend an academic institution where English is the primary language of instruction, you can submit your latest transcript in place of the test score.
Note: More information can be found in the FAQ sheet (review "International Student" section).
University Housing
If you wish to apply for University housing, you must indicate your needs in the Requisite Form. You should expect to receive an additional email to your New School email address once your information is sent to the University housing system.
