The studio space and housing provided for our Summer 2024 residency will be located at two different sites. Studio space will be located in our main arts building. Housing will be community style and will consist of a private bedroom and bathroom, with access to a communal kitchen.
Transportation between sites will be provided daily.

BORDERLAND ARTS INITIATIVE is a 30,000 square foot complex located near the border in downtown El Paso, Texas, whose mission is “To cultivate community through exhibition, performance, education and the development of artistic expression.”. Funded by the Villareal Panetta Foundation, the Initiative offers exploratory lessons in fine and performing arts for all ages and includes a 300 seat theater and art gallery. Executive Director Davdi Grabarkewitz comes from the New York City Opera where he was Resident Director, and the El Paso Opera where he served as Artistic and General Director. He has taught at the Boston Conservatory of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music and the Hartt Conservatory. His staging of Madame Butterfly for PBS’ Live From Lincoln Center won the PrimeTime Emmy Award for Best Live Performance and toured Japan with the New York City Opera.
