Research tells us that time and time again students from minoritized communities are less likely to graduate from their high school, let alone get accepted and graduate from college than their white counterparts. And once at college, many black and brown students must navigate culture shock, implicit bias and structural racism, and too often- a lack of socio-emotional support. Black Grad stands as a symbol to honor and recognize the perseverance and resilience of the nation's graduating black students.
