Band

Meet the director:

Mrs. Byom teaches band for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and also directs the summer marching band.  Next year will be her 7th year in the New Richmond School District and 4th year as the NRMS Band Director.  She went to Luther College in Decorah, IA, but grew up in Wisconsin.  When she's not at school, you can usually find her enjoying time outside hiking with her dog, Cleo, and with her husband, who Hillsiders know as Mr. M.  She can't wait to meet you and make some music!

If you want to learn more about band at NRMS, feel free to check out our NRMS Band Website for more info!

Below are the instruments that are in our 6th grade band.

Click each video to hear and see what the instruments look and sound like!

If French Horn is something you're interested in, start on Trumpet and we'll switch to French Horn later.

If Tuba is something you're interested in, start on Euphonium/Baritone or Trombone and we'll switch to Tuba later.

**PLEASE NOTE**

Percussion includes the many different drums, mallets (bells/xylophone), and a ton of different auxiliary instrument (tambourine, cowbell, claves, maracas, and MANY more!).

**We don't start 6th graders on oboe, french horn, other saxophones, or tuba.  7th graders have the option of switching to these instruments.  Often clarinet or flute players switch to oboe, trumpet players switch to french horn, baritone players switch to tuba.**
