august

Yearbook

All activities involved in the yearbook club focus on the construction of the yearbook. Taking pictures, drawing layouts in a digital book, cropping photographs, writing captions, and advertising the sale of the yearbook are all activities that club members participate in.

SEPTEMBER

student council

NRMS Student Council helps share students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for schoolwide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform.

Battle of the books

The statewide Battle of the Books program is designed to promote a love of reading among our students. It encourages students to read 20 books and remember information about the plots, characters, and settings of the books. Students can participate individually or with a team (no more than 4 on a team) Final Battle will be held in February.

Play chess and checkers with your peers. All abilities welcome. Learn new strategies, build better skills and have fun playing chess and checkers.

Baking Club


Making sweet treats and trying new seasonal recipes.

science olympiad

Science Olympiad is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at NRMS. Participants will complete in a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) competitions against other area schools. These competitions might involve building bridges, learning about the human body, learning how to guide a laser to a target using mirrors, or learning about how disease spreads through a population. Everyone has the chance to compete with a partner, so bring a friend!

math counts

Math Counts (7th and 8th Grade) is a national enrichment club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement. The goals of this competition are to challenge students to use higher-order thinking skills and problem solving abilities in mathematics. Students will compete individually as well as take part of a team round with a group of 3 other students.

greenhouse club

Greenhouse Club is where budding botanists and environmental enthusiasts come together to explore the wonders of having an in-school greenhouse and garden. Our club offers an engaging platform for students to cultivate a deeper understanding of plant life. Through hands-on activities such as planting, nurturing, and harvesting various flora, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the natural world. Join us in nurturing a greener future and fostering a deeper connection with nature, right here in our very own school greenhouse!

Math masters

The Math Masters (6th Grade) mathematics competition program challenges 6th grade students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics. Students compete as individuals and on teams in eight rounds of competition held in March each year. Students’ academic effort and achievement is recognized with plaques, medallions and ribbons in each competition element: Fact Drill, Individual Round and Team Competition.

crochet club

Crochet club is a place where students will learn the basics of crochet and get to know others who have this same interest.

8th Grade jazz band

Jazz Band will meet before school and explores the realm of jazz music which is completely different than normal concert band. We will participate in Solo and Ensemble Festival and perform at our Spring Band Concert. Come swing with us!

SPeech & dramatic arts

Speech & Dramatic Arts provides an inclusive platform that welcomes all middle school students to enhance and refine communication skills, to foster creativity, and to share perspectives.

gsa-Gender Sexuality alliance

All students are welcome in the Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Club, regardless of identity. The GSA Club provides a safe, welcoming place for any student. We will discuss diversity and inclusion of all students and will work towards a more accepting environment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

i make stuff up-writing club

IMSU is open to all students (6-8) interested in expressing themselves and their ideas through writing. We will meet during lunch and or Homeroom/Flex Time. The club is a safe space where students can use their imagination to create works of poetry, short stories, songs, memoirs, and there is even a novel writing challenge in November if you wish to participate! More info to come.

Craft club

Enjoy crafting? Want to make some holiday decor? Join craft club! We will meet once per month to make a seasonal craft together. Meetings are held after school until 3:40

Coding club

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. Students interested in coding meet once per month during the school day to participate in different coding activities.

ski club

Are you looking for an activity to get involved with this winter? Do you enjoy getting outside and playing in the snow? Do you like the thrill of flying down the side of a mountain? Have you wanted to learn how to ski or snowboard, but have never had the chance. If you can say yes to any of these questions, then the Ski Club is for you. Join us on Thursday evenings starting in December as we head to Trollhaugen to enjoy the slopes. Ski Club Registration packets can be picked up in the office starting on Monday November 6th.

Drama Club is a group of kids who get together to put on a One Act Play.  Each year is a little different, but you can be sure that there will be acting, painting, and laughter involved!  Join us as we come together to create something sure to be spectacular.

Marching Band

The NRMS Summer Marching Band welcomes all students currently enrolled in 6th or 7th Grade Band who are planning to continue playing in the band into next school year. We participate in 4 parades and end the summer with a mini-parade and reward trip to ValleyFair. We hope you will consider joining us on this exciting new experience with music!
