Solo Ensemble
SOLO ENSEMBLE
For many of you this is a new experience and I want to make sure we were all on the same page with the information. For starters: a bit about S&E. This event is a wonderful opportunity for the students to go and play for another teacher or judge. What this judge will do is rate and comment on the basics of posture, air support, intonation, blend, balance, and musical notes and style. The students will receive a rating of l-V with l being the highest, or superior, a ll being excellent and so on. I have encouraged 6th, 7th & 8th grade students to participate in the competition. 6th graders will perform as soloists as 7th & 8th graders have the opportunity to do solos as well as other ensembles. Prior to competition, the students will be rehearsing and working in school on their musical pieces. Each event will have some instructional time with me, but students are expected to practice their individual parts on their own. Students taking a solo should be doing this in lessons and practice tracks are also available online. More information soon to follow!
