In-Text Citations
Please click HERE for a page that gives you directions how how to make an IN-TEXT citation.
Here's the gist:
- An in-text citation let's us know where you got your information from, a trails of breadcumbs.
- In nearly ALL cases it will look like this: SENTENCE (Author's LAST NAME ONLY inside parenthesis) Period. Example below:
- Example: Human beings have been described as symbol-using animals (Burke).
- If there is NO AUTHOR, use the title of the article.
- Examle: Human beings have been described as symbol-using animals ("Humas as Symbols").
- If you are using a direct quote, the quotations go INSIDE the sentence, BEFORE the citations.
- Example: Human beings have been described as "symbol-using animals" (Burke).
