Wellbeing Playlist
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John
Overall, this has to have had one of, if not the biggest impact any song/music has had in my life. My reason for liking this song and putting it on this playlist was because it was the music I played in the holidays are my last term at Newlands Intermediate School. Despite the fact that the rest of my music references the happy themes, the sad theme of this song was what attracted me to this song; as I was quite sad in the holidays following leaving intermediate, and this sadness felt relatable. Furthermore, it's theme of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" felt very relatable as I had said goodbye to intermediate.
Currently, this song has a positive impact on my life as when I hear it, it reminds me of the positive impact intermediate (particularly year eight) had on my life.
2. Get Lucky by Daft Punk
I feel this song helps with my wellbeing, as it provides a positive theme while also not being over the top like some positive songs from the same era do. I also appreciate the breaks in-between words the song writer made, giving time for instrument breaks. The verity of a low pitch getting higher fits in very well with the instruments used, and the lake of swearwords makes it appropriate for all settings. The fact that this song isn't negative, but isn't overly positive is my overall reason for adding this song to the playlist.
3. Mundian To Bach Ke by Panjabi MC
This music track is one of my favorite songs. I feel it helps my wellbeing, because this music entertains me, but also doesn't distract me from school work I'm doing at the same time. I like this music as I find the instrumental music playing in the background very entertaining, and I appreciate the fact the style of instruments used aren't heard elsewhere, which gives me variety. I also appreciate that I don't know what the singers are saying, meaning that it has a factor of unknowingness to it. This lack of understanding to what the signer(s) is singing also means that it can be play in all settings. Overall, my main reason for liking this song is the unknowingness this song has,
4. Yi Jian Mei by Fei Yu-ching
This music track is contributes positively to my wellbeing, as it reminds me of the positive time during intermediate when I was waiting for my Rubik's cubes to arrive from China. This songs brings back the positive memories of this song whenever I hear it. I also enjoy the emotions I can feel in this song; it seems happy but meaningful. I also like the fact that I don't understand the meaning of this song, meaning it can be played in all settings. Overall, feel this song contributes positively to my wellbeing due to the positive memories it reminds me of.
5. PONPONPON by Yasutaka Nakata
I have included this song on this list, as I believe it positively influences my wellbeing. I first decided I liked this song for unknown reasons during the 2021 lockdown, in particular in the ending half when I began to sell face masks. When I hear this song, it reminds me of a very positive time in my life, where I was doing very well at intermediate, and had very positive relationships.
I like the positive beat of this song, and the way the singer repeats some of the words. I also appreciate the fact it's in Japanese, which means it's appropriate for all uses, and means I can't understand it, meaning I stay interested in the song and lyrics for much long.
