Classroom Activities

What are we working on?

In Math, we have been learning about time and how to read an analog and digital clock.  Next, we will begin our Money unit where we will be identifying and counting with Canadian coins.

In Language Arts, we have finished our novel study of Mr. Popper’s Penguins and will begin a new novel study with “James and the Giant Peach”. Our grammar focus is on Alliteration and Onomatopoeia. We have started our Discovery Learning research on our Wonder animal projects.

In Social Studies, we have completed our study on Iqaluit, Nunavut and will be starting our new unit on the community of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We will be learning about the history and settlement of both First Nations and the Ukrainians in this area.  We will learn about Saskatoon’s geography as well as the cultural, linquistic and economic characteristics.

In Science, we finished our Energy: Light and Sound unit.  Next we will be studying Life Cycles of Plant and Animals and how they can be affected by human behaviour both positively and negatively.  

We have been working on mindfulness and self-regulation in Health and will begin studying healthy habits and safety, both at home and at school.
