6th Grade Maker Class

Every 6th grade student will take the course in Cyberspace entitled, "Maker" class on their schedule. The course consists of problem solving/logic grids, online safety/etiquette, and project-based learning based in the Common Sense Media digital citizenship curriculum and Google Apps for Education. The class is scheduled for period 6 on both A/B days. Students are graded based on the NFMS Habits of Mind Rubric, which assesses "Striving for Accuracy," "Managing Impulsivity," and "Persistence" on a 3-point scale. Students practice working through a process to create a final product, learn the importance of "brain breaks" and appropriate use of technology to enhance productivity, and gain valuable social-emotional tools to enhance the thinking and learning process.
