Student Projects

Learning to do. Doing to learn. Earning to live. Living to serve.

What is SAE?

SAE stands for Supervised Agricultural Experience. In an FFA member's SAE program, they take their knowledge from the classroom and apply it to a real world situation or learning experience. We call this experiential learning and it's a great learning tool!

Every member of the Newell-Fonda FFA Chapter is required to obtain and maintain an SAE program throughout their time in our organization.

Proficiency Award Winner

Cody Voss' strong passion for the agricultural industry led him to investing his time and money into his own sheep and rabbit operations, as a part-owner in a cattle venture with his father, and as a part-time employee for his dad and brother at their hog sites. Cody recorded his learning and financial records and applied for a proficiency award this year.

We congratulate Cody on a job well done, as he placed 4th in the State and received Gold on his Diversified Livestock Production Proficiency Award this past month!

Student Project Spotlight: Sam P.

Sam Pitstick works for his family's farms around northwest Iowa. He enjoys being involved in his family's operation and is excited to be pursuing an Ag Business Degree from South Dakota State University this fall. Upon his college graduation, he hopes to be returning to the farm to learn from his family so that he may one day take over.

Sam's favorite/least favorite memory was when he accidentally lost two full wagons going down the road during harvest and they spilled. It was a huge learning experience for him in remembering to watch for the wagons and always check your hitch pins!
