Course Description

The Architectural & Mechanical Design program at Newberry County Career Center provides challenging learning opportunities for students from Mid-Carolina, Newberry, and Whitmire High Schools who have chosen engineering/drafting as a career path. The skills of a graphics/CAD technician are required in the design and development of new products by industry. All phases of manufacturing or construction require the conversion of new ideas and design concepts into the basic language of graphics. Students will prepare for actual work situations and continuing education through practical training using the AutoCAD 2022 software.

Specific skills mastered by Architectural Design completers include the production of mechanical/technical drawings, solid models, residential architectural drawings, electrical schematic drawing, and civil drawings. The major advantages of this program are quality hands-on training, potential job opportunities, advanced placement credit, and industry certification.
