Day 7 – Continue working on your Medical Terminology Assignment and complete the Medical Terminology Explore Activity
Day 8 – Create 3 scenarios/case studies based on your clinical experience. Include symptoms, medical terminology, vital signs, treatment plan, pathology, medications, etc. You may include gender, age, and race. These will be presented to your peers for discussion.
Day 9 – Complete the NCHSE 32 Sample Question Test.
Day 10 – Upon completion of your assigned book you will need to prepare for a “Book Talk.” You will demonstrate an understanding of the book by doing so. In the book talk, you will be required to give an overview of the book, read two passages that stand out to you, and give an overall critique of the book. You will also need to create a visual (poster board will be provided) for the presentation. Be prepared to present first day back in class. The books are listed below:

This program strongly discourages any absences over 6 days per year. Students must provide the instructor with documentation for each absence. Regular attendance is of vital importance in the attainment of course competencies.
Make-up:
Students are held responsible to get the assignments missed on the same day they are absent; through the instructor’s choice of portal or another classmate. All assignments missed during the absence are expected to be completed upon the day the student returns. If the student does not have the assignment on the returning day, it will be considered late. If the student missed part of the class, the assignment is due the next day.
Homework:
Homework is essential to mastering Health Science 1. It improves the student’s thinking and memory, teaches responsibility for work, and helps the students to be prepared for the next class. It will be checked regularly. Grading of homework consist of one of the following:
· Checked to see if homework was completed. Grade will be based upon percent completed.
· A random selection of homework task/problems will be graded for accuracy.
Late work: (Pertains to homework and projects)
Assignments are to be turned in on time. The following grading policy will be used for late assignments:
1 day late: ½ credit
2 days late: ¼ credit
3 days late: no credit

Quarterly grades are as follows:
1. Major Assessments (50%): Chapter tests, competency tests, research papers, projects, and special assignments.
2. Minor Assessments (40%): Quizzes
3. Daily/Homework (10%): Attendance, participation, and homework.
Semester grades are as follows:
1. 1st Quarter will count as 45% of the semester average.
2. 2nd Quarter will count as 45% of the semester average.
3. Semester exam will count 10% of the semester average.
Major Projects:
· #1 Senior Capstone Project
Ø The SCP is the culminating activity of a student’s educational experience and is produced during the senior year. The project is embedded in the Health Science CATE class and will count as a percentage of those grades. This project is intended to be an intensive, active learning progression, requiring significant effort in planning and implementation. The project provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and showcase the skills they have acquired over the past eleven years. It fosters lifetime interests and learning habits while providing students with a sense of accomplishment. It combines academic, career, and community components intended to challenge one’s ability, stretch one’s limitations, and celebrate one’s individuality. The Senior Capstone Project a fitting conclusion to a student’s entire education.
· #2 Health Science Clinical Study – Internship Journal(s)
Ø Journals will be checked periodically throughout the clinical experience for a class grade. This will count as a major grade at the end of the semester.
