About Me

Background

Born and raised in Columbia, SC, I am the proud daughter of a Teacher and a Nurse who instilled in me the values of hard work, education, and, most importantly, compassion for others. I am the youngest of three and doting aunt to my four nephews and one niece. I am married to my handsome husband, Jason and the amazed and blessed mother to our eleven year old daughter, Ellie Cade. 

Becoming a mother had an enormous impact on me as a teacher as I changed my perspective to that of a parent and what I want for my child from a teacher. It has enabled me to look beyond a face in the classroom to the growing, changing, and independent young adult doing his or her best to succeed. 

Experience

I began my teaching career at a small high school in rural North Carolina, then moved to Kentucky to teach Community College. Finding my way back to South Carolina, I began teaching again in 2012 at Eau Claire High School. After two years, I accepted a position at Ridge View High and taught there for five years. This is my seventh year teaching at Mid Carolina High School and I feel I have finally found home.
