THANK YOU to all our families and those that supported our students with their studies these past few months!
If you have questions that this page or the At Home Learning FAQ for Families does not answer, please try to connect with your teacher to get those questions answered. If that does not work, please email support@newberg.k12.or.us or call 503-554-4545, and we will help find answers.
As we move to a "Distance Learning for All" approach, teachers will be utilizing SeeSaw and Google Classroom for communication and organization of student work. In addition many of our Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will be utilizing a Chromebook for the first time.
Below you will find an introduction to the two learning management tools and the Chromebook. SeeSaw will be used as the start place for the learning of our K-2 students, and many 3-5 classes will also use it. Google Classroom will be our starting place for the learning of our 3-12 students.
Most of our parents and guardians utilize SeeSaw for parent/teacher communication, but are not familiar with the student side of SeeSaw.
In this video, Mabel Rush Kindergarten teacher Jess Hammer takes us on a video tour of the features and tools found in the student side of SeeSaw. As families work from home with their students, becoming familiar with SeeSaw from the student perspective can help parents better support their child.
What is SeeSaw? Seesaw is a platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, and links.
The slideshow to the left shows a workflow for getting logged into SeeSaw on a laptop.
One thing we have noticed about SeeSaw is that students who have multiple classes in SeeSaw will need to learn to switch between classes by clicking on the box in the upper left corner. SeeSaw defaults to the class that comes first alphabetically, and that may not be the main class for the student.
What is Google Classroom? Classroom helps students and teachers organize assignments, boost collaboration, and foster better communication. You can learn more about it here.
How does my student log in to Google Classroom? Your student will need to visit classroom.google.com and use their Newberg email account and password to get logged in. If you don't know the username or password, please call or email your school.
