This prestigious program recognizes two student-athletes based on excellence in athletics, academics and character. One male and one female statewide winner will each receive a $5,000 scholarship as well as a visit to the State Capitol in Sacramento where they will be honored in front of the legislature. Additionally, 20 Section winners (one male and one female from each of the 10 CIF Sections) will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
This award recognizes one male and one female state-wide winner during each season of sport. Student-athletes are selected based on exemplary sportsmanship, school/community service and leadership. Each winner receives a patch, award, a $1,000 scholarship and will be recognized at the year-end CIF Federated Council dinner in April. Additionally, 60 Section winners (one male and one female from each of the 10 CIF Sections, in each season of sport) will receive a $500 scholarship.
The Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team (BAASST) is a partnership established in 1996 by the Oakland Athletics, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, San Jose Earthquakes and San Jose Sharks. This unique committee is the first of its kind in the realm of professional sports. Each team will honor these students during a special pre-game presentation at their individual venues. The Oakland A's will award one (1) student attending an Alameda County public high school with a $5,000 scholarship.
Each student must submit the following information to complete this application:

Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives. The teacher, principal or counselor who nominated the student must write one of the letters of recommendation.
Official transcripts from each high school attended.
Taking into consideration academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement, please write a 2-3 page essay explaining why you believe you are a deserving BAASST candidate.

PCA awards scholarships of $500-$2,000 (depending on location) to high school athletes, based on their responses to questions pertaining to how they meet the standard defined in Elevating Your Game: Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor by PCA Founder Jim Thompson
Personal Mastery: Making oneself better
Leadership: Making one's teammates better
Honoring the Game: Making the game better.
Eligibility extends to any high school junior residing anywhere in the U.S. and playing for a high school team or in club sports!
The Rich Swift Athletic Scholarship was started by Colleen Pestana because she wanted to recognize former Athletic Director Rich Swift and the contributions that he has made to Newark Memorial High School and the community. Coach Swift made a difference in the lives of many students and athletes over many years.
Requirements:
Submit a one to two page essay – Write about the character and qualities of a person that you know and why you feel that person has made a difference and why he/she is significant. Each page of your essay should have your name, essay subject and page number.
Must be a graduating senior of Newark Memorial High School.
Plan on attending a two or four year college.
Must have played sports for two to four years at Newark Memorial High School.
