Charles Henry Hall, son of James Milo Hall and Mary Jane Bell, was born October 25, 1880 in Peoria, Polk County, Iowa. His preliminary education was somewhat limited, he having graduated from Collins High School in 1899.
On January 1, 1902, Charles married Addie May Triplett, daughter of Hickman Triplett and Mary Martha Chenowith. His father was a merchant and he set Charles up in a general merchandise business in Colo, Iowa which Charles operated from about 1902 to 1906.
Charles H. Hall has been a student all of his life and has gained for himself a knowledge of most of the branches which would be considered a part of a college curriculum. In the fall of 1906, Mr. Hall took up the study of law at Drake University and graduated from that institution with honors in June, 1909. He immediately hung out his shingle and engaged in the practice of law in Nevada.
He served three consecutive terms as mayor of Nevada from 1913 to 1918. By 1930, his marriage to Addie had failed. He continued his work as an attorney and he was re-elected mayor again and served two more terms from 1933 to 1936.
He remarried on June 20, 1935 to Nevada native Hazel Delphine Boynton, daughter of Willard Henry Boynton and Ida Belle Lockwood, at Hampton, Iowa. For many years Hazel served as legal secretary to her husband in his law firm.
Charles Henry Hall died on April 20, 1957 in Ames, Story County, Iowa. He was survived by his second wife and one son, Oscar Leland Hall.
