GRAB and go sack lunches

2nd Alert: Orchard Public School has qualified for a grant through the Office of Nutrition Services. Starting Monday, March 30, any students of OPS ages 1-18 may pick up free lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 to 12:15 on the west side of the school at the kitchen door. Two lunches, one hot and one cold, per child will be provided on Mondays, and three lunches, one hot and two cold, per child will be provided on Wednesdays to accommodate lunches for the week. Check the school announcements for daily menus, but realize the menus are subject to change based on availability. Please contact the school if you would like all lunches for the week or by 10:00 a.m. the morning of the Monday or Wednesday pick up if you would like a lunch only for a particular day. This service will continue through May 20, 2020.

GRAB and go sack lunches

3/18/20

Orchard Public School will be providing grab and go sack lunches to students who have contacted the school and signed up for them by 10:00 a.m. that morning. These lunches can be picked up on the west side of the school at the kitchen door from 11:45 to 12:15 Monday through Friday. Students’ lunch accounts will be charged according to their current lunch status. This service will begin Monday, March 23 and continue through Monday, March 30 at which time we will reevaluate our school closure situation.

COVID-19 Closure

As NCDHD has recommended, all schools in our area are closed through Monday, March 30. Along with this closure, the school building itself is closed. No one except school personnel who have approval to work during this time is to come into or use the Orchard Public School facility; this includes the classrooms, the kitchen, the lobby, the weightroom, the gym, etc. The administration requires strict compliance with this rule for the safety of all.

The North Central District Health Department has shared information with all area superintendents expressing their recommendation that we close down for a minimum of two weeks as an ESU 8 region. Therefore, Nebraska Unified District #1 schools will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, March 30. We will reevaluate the situation at that time. In addition, all NSAA activity practices have been suspended until Monday, March 30, and NSAA activity competitions have been suspended until Thursday, April 2. These suspensions may be extended should conditions warrant. In conjunction with this, all local school events and activities will also be suspended or cancelled during this time. School officials will be meeting to discuss plans for optional student enrichment activities as well as the possibility of providing student lunches for those interested during this closure. We will provide updated information on our school website as it becomes available

  • Effective Monday, March 16 all NSAA activity practices are suspended until Monday, March 30 and all NSAA activity competitions are suspended until Thursday, April 2.
  • There will be no sports practices for 2 weeks.
  • TeamMates matches are asked to not meet with mentees at this time as a Coronavirus precaution. We will let you know as soon as this precaution is lifted!
  • The TeamMates Group Outing to the Norfolk Family YMCA on Friday, March 20th has been cancelled for now.
  • The YMCA announced that they will be closed March 15th - Tuesday 25th due to the Coronavirus precaution.
  • Decisions about a future group event will be made at a later time depending largely on recommendations for public health.
