Hello! I am Bobbi Bowers and I am the 4th Grade Teacher here at Nettle Creek. I live here in Morris with my husband Jeremy and my two boys Hudson (8) and Greyson (5). We also have a very loved jack Russell Beagle named Blair.
This will be our 8th year living in Morris and we have truly enjoyed living here. Before moving here, we lived in Georgia for 4 years and Nebraska (where Jeremy and I both grew up). These moves have all been a result of Jeremy's job with the Department of Agriculture. We have loved Nettle Creek so much that we plan to stay here until the boys graduate and then have dreams of moving back to the South for retirement.
This will be my 15th year teaching and by far the most exciting one as I have always dreamed of being at the same school as my children. Due to my husband's job moving us around, I have a variety of experiences in multiple states and schools. Although this has presented many challenges, I truly believe it has provided me with so many opportunities to take away and learn so many things from each place and shape my philosophy and teaching style.
I have served as a Special Education teacher in 12 of my 15 years. Most recently I came from Saratoga where I served as the Special Education preschool teacher. Prior to that I was in Plainfield as the 3rd-5th grade special education teacher. All of my experiences in Georgia and Nebraska included students in prek-2nd grade, where all but 2 of those were in Special Education. I am one who loves learning and being challenged and am ready to embrace this new experience with open arms!
I attended Dana College in Nebraska, which closed my senior year. At the time I had only completed my degree in Spanish, but was able to transfer to Midland University so that I could complete my student teaching for my Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education degrees. A few years later I completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Concordia University.
In my free time, I love playing outdoors with my boys. They both have a love of sports just like my husband and I did (and still do) so our free time can be limited due to their sports committments. We live on the golf course so another hobby of ours is hunting golf balls. Hudson is even learning about entrepreneurship with all the balls we find.
Some of my favorites
Drinks: Caramel coffees (both hot and cold), Dr. Pepper
Candy: there are very few I don't love from all chocolates to gummies like lifesavers and skittles
Hobbies: anything outdoors, cooking, baking, coaching my kids sports
