Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year. I am looking forward to teaching your child this year in our 3rd grade classroom. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Tana Ferris and during my teaching career, I have taught from first grade through eighth grade. I have my Master of Arts in Reading with a Reading Specialist Certification. I will highlight some expectations for this year in the following paragraphs.
Each day, students are expected to be on time with all their materials for school. School materials include chromebooks, notebooks, textbooks, homework, writing instruments/supplies, snacks, water bottle, and lunch.
Students will take their chromebooks home each day and return with them to school the following day, fully charged. The chargers should remain at home so chromebooks could be charged each night. We work on our chromebooks in class so it is essential that students come to class with them each day.
Students in 3rd Grade receive standard based report cards. I will cover this in more detail during Back-to-School night. Homework assignments will be posted on my Netcong School website. In addition, students will also write their homework in their binders. The binders contain students’ homework assignments, as well as any important papers from school. Any graded assignments will be sent home for your signature. I kindly request that you put these papers back in the binder and return them to school. In addition, if you have any notes for me or anyone else in the school, please put them in the binder.
I am looking forward to getting to know your child this year. The home-school connection is important and I am excited to work with you to ensure your child has a successful and productive school year. If you have any questions or comments, please call me on 973-347-0020 x201 or email me at tferris@netcongschool.org.
Sincerely,
Tana Ferris
3rd Grade Teacher
