Welcome to our first grade classroom! I am so excited to be able to work with your child and help them get the most out of their school year. First grade is a time of great growth for children. Your child will develop their reading skills, learn how to add and subtract quickly, and learn essential skills for group work (such as cooperation and turn taking). 

We help students achieve this growth in a variety of ways. Our typical school day includes the following schedule: 

1. Reading

2. UFLI (phonics)

3. Snack

4. Math 

5. RTI (Response to Intervention or targeted small group instruction)

6. Lunch

7. Writing

8. Specials (Art, Music, Gym, Spanish, Social Emotional Learning)

9. Science/Social Studies

Students will work in small groups with targeted skills practice and game based review as much as possible! This year, our classroom will be an inclusion classroom with Ms. Luciani, a special education teacher at Netcong Elementary school. Ms. Luciani and I will be co-creating and implementing lessons all year. Our goal is to give everyone what they need to succeed.  😃
