Flow theory can be applied to every aspect of life and we discovered that when applied to composition studies, it can have significant positive effects. The cognitive and metacognitive process within one's mind, referred to as internal environment, and external environments such as a classroom, can positively or negatively impact one's ability to engage in the state of flow. Therefore, it is vital to understand the psychological factors of this theory to create the optimal experience for students to engage in composition and the writing process.
