SHORT CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION

The conference is held in memory of the late Professor Vedran Šoljan (1962-2008), one of Croatia's pioneers in the field of competition law. The conference traditionally offers a platform for discussion about recent antitrust developments, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and South-East Europe (SEE). This year's topics include e-commerce and vertical restraints, reform of horizontal guidelines, the Digital Markets Act and e-platforms, right of defence and competition law, challenges to competition law enforcement in CEE and SEE countries, and a panel on recent competition law developments in the CEE/SEE region.

Also, this year, for the first time, day 2 of the conference shall include a half-day parallel program “COMPETITION COMPLIANCE TRAINING – BRUSHING UP ON YOUR DO’S AND DON’TS”. This competition compliance training will be held by recognized Croatian practitioners and will cover the basic concepts and rules of the EU and Croatian Competition Act (including the abuse of dominance, cartels and other restrictive agreements, merger clearance, enforcement procedures, etc.).

Conference will provide a forum for discussion for competition law experts- staff of competition authorities, judges, attorneys, in-house lawyers and other legal practitioners from all over Europe. Conference is supported by the Croatian Competition Agency, Universities and local organizations, with great speakers from OECD, European Comission, Universities, industry and regulators from the entire Region and Europe.
