Let's Read!
Our goal is for the entire school to read a total of 100,000 minutes, as well as raise $10,000. All profits will go directly to the PTA.
The PTA helps fund everything from photocopy machines and air conditioners to literacy and math curricula, dance residencies, chess instruction, sports programs, club advisors, tutoring, drama and visual arts programs ... and more!
Students have collectively read 38,689 minutes, which is 38.7% of our 100,000-minute goal.
Let's keep turning those pages!
HOW IT WORKS
THREE STEPS: Set up 99Pledges to secure pledges, track minutes (info below) ... & READ!
By registering here, you can set up an easy fundraising page for you (meaning your child!) and your donors. Ask family, friends, and neighbors to pledge 5, 10, or 15 cents for each minute read outside of class time between Monday, June 1 and Friday, June 12. Your sponsors may also donate a flat amount instead.
Please note: Monetary pledges are not mandatory for participation in the Read-A-Thon. Regardless of whether or not pledges are secured, we want ALL NEST+m students to join in the fun and show us what strong, diverse, and curious readers they are. All we ask is that you register for the Read-A-Thon to record your reading minutes and submit them for tracking purposes (for Milestone Minutes rewards and school totals).
HOW TO WIN PRIZES
Students participating in the Read-A-Thon should record their daily reading minutes (outside of class) every day in their private read-a-thon page via the tracker. Books count! Reading on a tablet counts! Magazines count! Comics count! Newspapers count! Homework reading counts! Students who are not reading independently should include the minutes they are read to by an adult (or other independent reader).
Milestones & Prizes:
Every student who submits a reading log will receive a special NEST+m bookmark.
Please be honest. The committee reserves the right to follow-up with parents/guardians to vouch for the validity of logged minutes.
Students will earn one raffle ticket for every Milestone Minute marker in drawings to win prizes, including reading lamps, fun socks, magazine subscriptions, and bookstore gift cards.
Students will also win a special button for each Milestone Minute marker they reach. Collect them all!

How to Set Up Your Own Read-A-Thon Page on 99Pledges
To add your child as a participant, please follow these 3 easy steps:
Click on the "Set It Up Now" button below.
Enter your child’s full name and enter your email(s). For "Group", select the classroom or grade level. We recommend using a parent/guardian email for younger students. If using a student address, please avoid using "nycstudents.net" email addresses, as many of them are blocked from emails outside of the organization. We want to be able to contact our prize winners!
Click “Add” > this will take you to your newly created pledge page! You can also set your own reading minutes and fundraising goals in your private page.
Make a flat donation or a pledge, and share your child’s pledge page link with friends and family. No amount is too small!
Here is some sample sharing text: " NAME is participating in a fundraiser and would love your support. If you'd like to donate, you can do so online at the following link: YOUR PLEDGE PAGE LINK."
Remember, you don't have to fundraise, but we cannot track your reading minutes if you do not register.
How To Enter Minutes In The 99Pledges Tracker
When you signed up for your student's profile page, you should have received an email message with the subject line "Check out your new fundraiser page!" Your shareable page link is the 1st link that appears in the email. Your private profile management page link is the 2nd link that appears in the email. Through this link, you can track minutes and also add a profile picture to the pledge page. Go to the "Track" tab and from there, you can enter minutes. It will look like this: SAMPLE TRACKING PAGE
Please remember that if you have asked family and friends to donate, we cannot ask them to pay if you have not logged any minutes. In order for the donations to process, you must read!
