Read-A-Thon
May 27 - June 8, 2025
Thank you to everyone who visited the Book Fair! It was a joy to see the excitement and curiosity on our students’ faces as they uncovered new stories and adventures. We are especially grateful to Ms. Amoh for her unwavering support, teachers for helping their students explore the Book Fair, and parents who showed up to help out.
Tuesday, May 27th to Sunday, June 8th
The Read-A-Thon is heating up! To date, we have read a total of 21,795 minutes as a school, and raised $6,771! Let's keep going -- we still have 4 days left!
K-2 Race: 2B is leading the total minutes read, and 1C is leading in total donations!
Grades 3-5 Race: 3A is leading the total minutes read, and 4C is leading in total donations!
Remember, there are prizes for classes AND individual participants. Click HERE or on the link below fore more details about the prizes!
These numbers are based on minutes that have been logged in the system. Any money "raised" does not count if there are no logged minutes. Don't forget, your friends and family have pledged money based on the promise that you will read! If you are having difficulty logging your minutes, please reach out to readathon@nestmpta.org.
All profits will go directly to the PTA, which funds a myriad of programs, from photocopy machines and air conditioners, to literacy and math curricula, dance residencies, chess instruction, sports programs, club advisors, tutoring, and drama and visual arts programs, to name just a few.
How it works: Ask family, friends, and neighbors to sponsor you for 5, 10, or 15 cents for each minute you read outside of class time between Tuesday, May 27th - Sunday, June 8th. Your sponsors may also donate a flat amount. By registering here, you can set up an easy Read-A-Thon page for yourself and your donors.

When it comes to improving reading skills to ensure academic success, did you know:
Reading for as little as 20 minutes a day improves children’s vocabulary and grammar.
Reading a variety of books also provides students with exposure to different writing styles. This nourishes their creativity and helps them to become more confident writers at any age.
The best way to improve reading skills is (you guessed it!) to read daily. Challenge yourself by reading a book outside of your comfort zone, whether that means the vocabulary is new and exciting or you pick up nonfiction in place of a novel!
There will be raffle prizes for participants! The more minutes you read, the more raffle tickets you earn.
NEST+m, HOW MANY MINUTES CAN WE READ IN TWO WEEKS?? 100,000?? MORE?? Let's find out!!
