Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year! We are so excited to kick off the year with a brand new The Eagle and cover all the important moments at NEST+m. A new school year supplies many changes: new classes, new teachers, new trends, and also a new masthead! It’s our pleasure to introduce to you our three new Editors-in-Chief: Jade Acker, Xena Cole-Nelson, and Veronica Morris.
Jade’s Bio:
Hi! I’m Jade, one of the three Editors-in-Chief of The Eagle. I am a senior at NEST+m and am very excited to continue the newspaper’s legacy and create more opportunities to connect with our school community. Outside of the newspaper, I am a member of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team and a performer in the annual NEST TheaterFest. My favorite class so far has been AP Psych because I found it fascinating to learn about how the tiny mechanisms in the brain influence so much of how we interpret and respond to the world. I love being part of The Eagle because I get to use my voice to discuss issues I am passionate about and collaborate with others to create a newspaper full of many different perspectives. The paper gives students a creative outlet and an opportunity to both teach and learn from our NEST+m community. We’re going to have a great year!
Xena's Bio:
Hi! I'm Xena, one of the three Editors-in-Chief this year. I’m a senior and transferred to NEST+m during my sophomore year. I’m passionate about baking, reading, writing, and shopping! My favorite subject is yoga because it lets me meditate and relax, but academically, English is my top choice. I’m also involved in the Mental Health Club and serve as an ambassador for BookWorm Global outside of school. Being part of The Eagle has been amazing; it’s a supportive space where people can express themselves and help others do the same. I know joining a new club might feel intimidating, but this year will be a lot of fun and a great opportunity for growth and creativity!
Veronica’s Bio:
Hi NEST+m I am Veronica and I am excited to be one of the new Editors-in-Chief of The Eagle. I am a 12th grader and have been at NEST+m since Freshman year. Outside of Newspaper, I am on the soccer team and VP of Student Government. So far, APES has been my favorite class at NEST because I’m a huge advocate for climate justice and APES addresses climate change and taught me a lot about our environment. I love being a part of The Eagle because I believe it’s important to have a space where students can keep our school community informed and aware of topics that interest youth. I also think it is a space that excites our community through interviews and articles about our students, teachers, and staff. I am looking forward to the 24-25 school year and engaging underclassmen to join the paper.
Anyone is welcome at The Eagle, whether you’re an artist, writer, editor, photographer, or simply want to support the club, there’s a place for you here!
