Stay Organized

Time management and organization are key in the application process. Use a chart or google sheet to keep deadlines and requirements for each school organized.

Keep your usernames & passwords on your phone notes, a notebook or a google doc (you will have about 15).

Copy and paste this sample tracker or create your own.

SAT & ACT Official Scores

Students are responsible of submitting SAT, ACT and AP official scores directly through College Board or ACT. These scores will take from 2 to 3 weeks to arrive, please send them before your application deadline.

Please check for requirements for each college. If it is not clear on their website, call their office of admissions.

AP scores - Most colleges do not require AP scores during the application process. Only once the student matriculates in order to award credits. Please check with each college.

Naviance

All your colleges MUST be listed on Naviance.
Recommendation letters must be requested via email
Must mark the deadline per college (ED/EA/Regular/etc)
List any CUNY applications
List any colleges even if they are not in Common App
Keep your resume updated
Final college list deadline: DECEMBER 1st

I submitted my application, what is next?

Congratulations, give yourself a lot of credit :)
Most colleges will send you a link to an application portal
Check your email daily for updates on the status of your application.
Check your portals for updates and missing materials
If you received an email confirmation from Ms. Alba that your documents were sent but are marked as missing... contact the office of admissions to inquire about it.
Make sure you also fill out all the necessary financial aid forms.
