Class Overview:
The New Visions Health Careers program is designed for high school seniors interested in medical and health-related professions. Students learn in classrooms located at Ellis Medicine in Schenectady, through traditional methods as well as rotations in various departments.
Rotations are structured observations of professionals and procedures in a career field. New Visions Health Careers students obtain up to 130 observation hours in 16 to 17 weeks of rotations in up to 30 clinical and administrative areas of Ellis Medicine. Rotations include, but are not limited to, oncology, the operating room, pharmacy, mental health, rehabilitation, the business office, environmental services, dental, and engineering.
Students completing New Visions Health Careers have a clearer vision of their college and career goals along with firsthand knowledge of the day-to-day demands and rewards of various professions.
