To obtain your NEIU Student ID (located on the upper righthand corner)
You will need this to activate your NEIUport (Student Portal)
To activate your NEIUport click here and follow the steps to access your student portal.
This portal provides quick, centralized, and secure access to information and services for all NEIU students, faculty, and staff.
You can find your award under: The My Financial Aid tab then click Financial Aid Awards and select the Aid Year you wish to view
During your time with an Academic Advisor, you will:
- discuss if a placement test is needed
- learn about the degree requirements for your major
- use the degree evaluation tool
- register for classes
If you don’t have an intended major, you will meet with an Academic Advisor. Contact the Advising Center at advising@neiu.edu or (773) 442-5470 to schedule an appointment.

If you cannot reach your advisor, please contact the Transfer Center for help at tsteps@neiu.edu.
If you have questions related to contacting your advisor in natural sciences, computer science, mathematics, and psychology majors please contact Laura West at l-west2@neiu.edu or schedule an appointment here.
You can find how to register for courses by clicking the Student tab then scroll down to Registration Tools and select add courses. Make sure you have talked with your advisor first to know what courses you need for Spring 2021.
Desire to Learn (D2L) is an online learning environment that houses syllabi, course materials and tools you will use for many of the courses you will take at Northeastern. D2L also enables you to communicate with the faculty members teaching your courses and your classmates. You will use D2L for all of your registered courses for the Spring once the semester begins.

All students must provide documentation of immunization/vaccination history to Northeastern Illinois University Student Health Services. Instructions are available online. Discounted vaccinations and free immunization reviews available at NEIU Student Health Services.
To ensure the smooth processing of your financial aid and registration, make sure the Admissions Review and Processing Office receives your final official transcript and Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation Request Form. It should include your graduation date or degree (if applicable) as soon as it’s available from your last college attended.

NEIU’s Orientation Program is designed to introduce you to all of the resources we have available on campus to help ensure your academic and social transitions into our community are as smooth as possible. We want to make sure you have everything you need to be successful once you begin classes, including financial aid information, knowing what is expected of you as a community member, as well as all of the resources and tools available to you, so that you know exactly where to go for help when you need it. We will also provide you with an opportunity to meet other incoming students, learn about the experiences of current students (our Orientation Leaders), as well as receive a tour of campus.
You will receive an email with instructions on how to sign up for orientation as well as other information/resources to begin looking at.
