Green Ponds
Kennedy Richelieu
Kennedy Richelieu
Ripple the surface
November afternoon
Calm end of a rain storm
Air was full of mist
Smooth to distinguish its surface
No longer reflected
Tints of October
Somber November colors of surrounding hills
Gently, the slightest underlations produced
By a ribbed appearance to the reflections
Looking over the surface
A distance a faint glimmer
Skater insects escaped the frosts
Betrayed where a spring welled up
I find myself surrounded
By myriads of rich colors in the green water
Constantly rising to the surface sometimes leaving bubbles
In transparent and seemingly bottomless water
Reflecting clouds seemed to be floating through the air
A kind of flight or hovering all around them
Such schools in the pond
Draw over their their broad skylight
A few raindrops fell there
Approached carelessly, a sudden rippling
As if the water instantly took refuge in the depths
Waves began to run
Leaped much higher than before
Out of the water, at once.
