In this PBL project, students explore, research, communicate, and take action in the conservation of resources and recycling of materials, to protect gorillas. They explore how our actions impact gorillas in their natural and zoo habitats through an interdisciplinary and global approach. Students read The One and Only Ivan, collaborate with gorilla researchers, engage in habitat research, analyze and create population data and charts, share their persuasive ideas via artwork in zines, and organize a cell phone collection campaign aimed to empower students and members of their community to be conscious consumers and help protect gorillas in their natural habitats.
