This week during Chapel, we were blessed to hear from Liam Kopp, who shared a devotion on generosity from 1 Chronicles 29:14: “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”
This year our school will be supporting and celebrating Liam’s exciting journey to Mito, Japan, where he will begin serving as a missionary. Not only did Liam lead our devotion, but he also taught our students about Japan, its culture, and the great need for God’s Word there.
Japan has fewer than 1% of its people who know Christ as their Savior. In Mito, there are only five churches and three pastors. The challenges are real, but Liam reminded us that God has planted the seed of mission work abroad—and also planted that same seed in his own heart.
From his own experience in Japan, Liam explained why this ministry matters so much to him. While not everyone is called to travel overseas, we are all called to take part in God’s mission. As Matthew 28:19 reminds us: “Go and make disciples of all nations.”
We invite families to pray for Liam, the Japan Mission Field, and support this mission through our Wednesday Chapel offerings.

This school year, our school will be supporting and celebrate the exciting journey of Liam Kopp, who will soon be heading to Mito, Japan, to begin his mission service. Born in LaPorte, Indiana, and now living in Appleton, Wisconsin, Liam’s life has been shaped by a love for travel, strong family roots in ministry, and a passion for language and culture.
His mom is our 8th grade teacher, Mrs. Cheryl Kopp and his father is an English teacher at Fox Valley Lutheran.
Having moved more than six times, he understands what it means to adapt, connect, and build lasting friendships wherever God places him.
A 2024 graduate of Martin Luther College’s pre-seminary program, Liam has been deeply rooted in God’s Word and trained in biblical languages. His upbringing surrounded by faithful teachers and pastors—including his parents, grandfather, and uncle—sparked in him a desire to share the Gospel with those who may have never heard it. That calling grew stronger through his exposure to Japanese culture, especially since his mother once taught English in Japan before he was born.
As Liam prepares to move in September 2025, he is grateful to be 70% of the way toward his support goal. He gives thanks for the prayers and generosity of those who are making this ministry possible. If you would like to join in supporting his work, please see his attached newsletter.
